Guitar Tone Settings Database
Jan 02, 2020 Guitar tone is the sound that is the end result of the way your pick or fingers strum a properly maintained guitar and its strings, through all of the various electronics used to shape the signal, and ultimately broadcasted out of an amplifier. Your tone can be more or less affected by every aspect of your guitar's build, how well it is. An expressive player can use these tones to make the guitar sing. Pick notes all over the neck and listen to how unique each note sounds. Then play one note and vary the tone by plucking closer to, and further away from, the bridge. There is no such thing as 'good' tone - the guitar is one of very few instruments that can produce many different.
Hey i'm running a gibson les paul, through a danelectro black coffee pedal, into my marshall mdfx 100 half stack. Now I can get it to sound real good when it's quiet but as soon as i boost the volume my tone turns to shit. It goes from a nice compact distortion in which all notes, palm muting, and power chords simply sing, to just a crappy kinda fuzz. What could possibly be wrong? Is it that my distrotion pedal is just shitty? If so could you recommend another better suited for the thrash metal that i love so much? Thanx for the help in advance.war, thrasher 86.

I've been doing the same thing and i've achived the true metallica tone and yes the mids are at zero but a friend of mine was on the justice tour and has given me the correct settings but i have to warn you 2 15 band graphic eq's i use a dbx 215 and patch 'em together.the main crunch settings on the amp is: low 4.5 mid 0.0 high 6.5 precence 6.5 vol.6.9 the amp i use is a triple rec so it works perfect but a marshall should work as well.depending on if you use the marshall gain or a pre-amp/pedal the settings are different but the amp settings stay the same. I use a marshall jh-1 a boss mt-2 metal zone (for my main crunch tone)mxr dd-11 dime distortion the best of which i,ve used is the mt-2 but the settings are pretty universal.here are the settings: level what ever matches your clean sound low 5.0 mid 0.0 (or if you use the metal zone)mid ferq.5.0 high 5.0 dist 7.0 the e.q. Settings i'll havr to give to you later im not at home but i went on line and saw your situation and thought i must help you out.cheers.
