On Sporter marked SP6920 (and other variants) model the prefix letters is 'SP'.

I've had this since I believe the mid to late 80's. It is in excellent condition and has been fired very little since I have owned it. I've never been into AR15's and traded a Remington shotgun for this back in the 80's. I know next to nothing about this rifle except what I was told which is this. A fellow at the lgs looked at it and said it was made in transition from pre-ban to post ban in between or something and has a heavy barrel but isn't marked as such. I have no idea but may sell it or trade. I prefer the older military arms from WWI or WWII. I would appreciate any info on this and a possible ball park value. It's a Colt AR15 A2 Gov't Model Ser GS 008411 1/7 twist. Here's a few pics. Best regards. Dick
