M Audio Nrv10 Drivers For Mac

Hi All,Can someone please help with a problem I'm having w/ my new M-Audio NRV10 & iMac v10.5.2? First, I did download beta NRV10 drivers.Problem:When I select (as instructed by NRV10 manual) GarageBand Preference Audio Output to: NRV10 9/10 & Input to NRV10 Mutichannel.I get pops and clicks (sounds like feedback) on all tracks recorded into GarageBand.when I change Output only to Built-In.the problem disappears. It could be a simple set-up issue or the driver (beta).any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!JR. OK, I think I've figured it out too (I'm not sure I can fully explain WHY it happens tho):The problem occures when you select ANY stero pair (not only 9/10) as Audio Output in GB preferences. Actually the only thing that should be defined there, both on Audio Input AND Output is 'NRV 10 Multichannel'.' So how do I route playback stuff to either 'FW 9/10 to Phones' or 'FW 9/10 to CTRL Room'?'

You may be asking.Well, with Advanced DAW software it should be done by individually selecting channels 9/10 as output for each corresponding track, alas GB has no individuall control for track output. Only Input Source. The default output channels on GB (while at 'Multichannel' mode) are 1 and 2.This means that untill GB features track output channel control you are either forced to sacrify channels 1/2 OR use another DAW. Kraps wrote:OK, I think I've figured it out too (I'm not sure I can fully explain WHY it happens tho):Your explanation makes sense. It's really a philosophical difference:GB sees 1&2 as the default playback channels; the NRV10 sees 9&10. The result of this heroic battle between competing musical titans is.

GB wins, forcing the NRV10 to give up Channels 1&2 in defeat.Sure, it would be nice if you could specify output tracks, but I think this is one of those features that GB limits on purpose in order to keep things simple at the expense of flexibility-complexity. Kraps wrote:Right. And BTW, if you've never heard of it yet and would like to try a very cool and professional and a real 'rising star' DAW software, you should check out Reaper. They are working right now on a port to OS X and there's already a 'preview' version that is actually working (well, most features. At least the important ones:-)).I think Reaper is a cool project, but it's not really what GarageBand is about. It's kind of the opposite approach. Also, I don't think Reaper is ready for prime time on a Mac yet.

However, I too admire the way they're developing it. Apple Footer. This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only. New operating systems add amazing new features and security to our world but that can often come at the cost of compatibility with our current software and drivers, many of which are vital pieces to a studio or DJ setup. While software and hardware drivers can be updated to account for the changes in a new operating system, this is not always immediate. To prevent any downtime waiting for an update, it's much easier check the compatibility of your gear before making the jump. This article is a list of all macOS High Sierra and iOS 11 compatible M-Audio hardware and software, as well as what you'll need to know before updating.

3 Things You'll Need to Know

  1. Is my product supported? We're happy to tell you that most M-Audio products are already supported on macOS High Sierra without any need for additional driver or firmware updates. If you haven't already, check our list of supported class-compliant and driver required products below to make sure your M-Audio product is ready for the update to High Sierra.
  2. Apple's new OS includes new security features that require the user to allow a system extension when installing a new driver. This is very simple and only needs to be done once for each driver. So, if you're installing any new driver on macOS High Sierra, look out for the following pop-up message and check out the driver section for instructions.
The good news is that this is only necessary if you are installing a new driver. If you are updating to High Sierra and already have the latest driver for your device installed, you will not need to re-install the driver or complete these steps.
  3. While your M-Audio products are ready for macOS High Sierra, that doesn't mean everybody is. If you use one of our products with a third-party software title like Ableton or Cubase, be sure to check with the developer to confirm support for the new OS before updating.

Required: All driver supported products on macOS High Sierra will now require the user to allow the system extension in the Security & Privacy System Preferences. After installing the driver, the following pop-up will appear to report that the driver extension has been blocked:

To enable the extension and allow the driver, navigate to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Restart the computer first if this is necessary to complete the driver installation. Under the General tab, look for the 'System software from developer '(driver developer)' was blocked from loading.'

Click Allow. Follow the prompts to restart the computer if necessary and the device will be recognized normally on startup. It will only be necessary to complete this process once.
